Plastiks (website) is a Greentech company that is trying to changethe plastic waste industry. The company's mission is to improve plastic recovery and recycling rates by connecting companies with recovery projects worldwide. Through their platform, companies can take immediate and verifiable actions against plastic pollution by sponsoring the recovery of plastic waste around the globe. The recovery process is tracked through blockchain technology, ensuring that the plastic never ends up in a landfill.

What sets Plastiks apart is its innovative use of a carbon-neutral blockchain and NFTs. The platform allows companies to directly support recovery projects that remove plastic waste from the environment, particularly in regions that lack the necessary infrastructure. This is achieved through Plastic Recovery Guarantees (PRGs), which ensure that plastic does not end up in the environment. These PRGs increase the traceability of plastics and create an additional revenue stream for impactful projects that are reducing plastic waste in the environment.

Plastiks is leading the fight against global plastic pollution. The platform enables global recyclers to convert invoice data into NFTs, each of which uses blockchain data to ensure that an equal amount of plastic is retrieved, preventing it from entering the environment. This sustainable system creates a more transparent and traceable way of tracking plastic recovery. To date, Plastiks has recovered over 1.6 million kilograms of plastic, equivalent to 182.6 million plastic bottles.

Their efforts have been recognized with the Gold Prize at Celo Camp 2022, earning them 10,000 cUSD and 2,000 CELO. The team is led by co-founders André Vanyi-Robin (CEO), Daniel García (CTO), and Trym Lyngset (Product Owner).

One of the major milestones for Plastiks is their collaboration with FC Barcelona, aiming to recover over 1,000,000 kilos of plastic waste, equivalent to 35,000,000 plastic bottles, from developing countries. This collaboration extends beyond the pitch, with FC Barcelona's vast fan base and Plastiks' groundbreaking use of NFTs on the carbon-neutral blockchain Celo, inspiring millions. Fans can actively participate in plastic recovery, choosing the countries where their plastic credits are generated. Plastiks and FC Barcelona are actively working with recovery projects in different corners of the globe, making a significant impact in their local communities, recovering plastic waste, and fostering sustainable practices.
